The program complemented the land capability and land use surveys of the Canada Land Inventory (CLI). However, most data sets associated with CLUMP were compiled at a higher level of detail than the CLI.Designed to monitor both spatially and sequentially land use change in various areas of Canada, the CLUMP program had the following objectives:1) to provide improved awareness of the state of the land resource.2) to identify land use trends of national and regional importance.3) to determine major areas of rapid change that could potentially create land use problems.4) to analyze land use change in terms of causes and consequences, particularly with respect to the impact of government policies and programs.\"
